A physically-impaired 48-year-old Joliet-area man who served more than 10 years behind bars on five convictions for driving on a revoked license was scheduled to appear in court today on charges of cocaine possession and violating parole on his sixth revoked-license conviction.
Will County Sheriff’s Police arrested the man Feb. 17 at his home in unincorporated Joliet.
Will County Circuit Court records show Joliet Police arrested the man for driving on a revoked license in April 2000, August 2002, August 2004, December 2006 and September 2010. He pleaded guilty in each instance and was sentenced to 24 months in prison in March 2001, seven months in the Adult Detention Facility in December 2003, 54 months in prison in November 2004, 36 months in prison in December 2006 and 25 months in prison in February 2011.
The man was paroled from Stateville Correctional Center in January on the latest sentence, according to the IDOC Web site, which describes him as being blind in one eye and lacking both thumbs.
He remained in the Adult Detention Facility this afternoon on an Illinois Department of Corrections hold.
The cocaine-possession charge is a Class 4 felony, carrying a sentencing range of 1 to 3 years, if convicted.
