A Joliet bar was fined $750 this week after failing to report a fight that occurred in the establishment in December, officials said.

The fight happened on Dec. 20 at Samy’s, 3151 Voyager Lane, but police did not learn of the incident until a person who was injured in the fight filed a police report, said Jim Murphy, the city’s deputy liquor commissioner.

Liquor license holders are required to report “acts of battery and disorderly conduct” that occur in their establishments, he said.

Dimitrious Tsanos, the bar’s owner, was levied the fine by the Joliet Liquor Commission at a Wednesday hearing.
