Mortgage help on the way for veterans

Gov. Pat Quinn on Wednesday announced a program aimed at helping veterans and active-duty military members purchase homes by providing $10,000 grants for down payments and closing costs.

Qualified applicants also will be able to lock in loans at 4 percent interest for a 30-year mortgage and receive an additional tax credit of up to $20,000 over that time.
