You can host a cookout, have a parade, organize a flashlight walk or simply turn on your outside light and relax on your front porch. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime- and drug-prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood, police and community partnerships; generate support for local anti-crime programs; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Talk to your neighbors now to plan an inexpensive, fun event to promote neighborhood spirit and safer streets. You can register online at www.nationalnightout.org/nno. Registration is free.
