It was midmorning in sunny Southern California when Dan Wenstrup’s golf ball dropped into the cup of the final hole at Riviera Country Club.

That monumental occasion on Dec. 10 marked not only the end of a round of golf but also the end of the Hinsdale resident’s quest to play all of Golf Digest magazine’s top 100 ranked courses in the United States.
