Behind solid pitching and a barrage of hitting, the Hinsdale Central baseball team beat Brother Rice Thursday, April 1, by a score of 8 – 4. The Red Devils (1-1-1) won their first game of the season behind the hitting of Jack Hellwig (3 for 4, RBI, double), Matt Sliter (2 for 3, 3 RBI, double) and Matt Anderson (2 for 4, RBI, double). John Spacapan earned his varsity first win with 2 earned runs over 4 innings, striking out 2 and allowing 4 hits. Will Pahos pitched three scoreless innings for the save, striking out 4.
