3 arrested after report of reckless driving

After receiving a complaint about a dark-colored Honda driving recklessly,  the car was stopped at downtown Hinsdale’s Mobil gas station and the driver was found to be under the influence of drugs, police said.

Sheraz Khan, 24, of the 2800 block of Granville Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 6:49 a.m. Jan. 8, and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after failing a sobriety test.

Khan’s two passengers, Roberto Ixta, 19, of the 3500 block of S. 54th Ct., Cicero, and Katherine Sampang, 20, of the 800 bock of Brompton Ct., Bolingbrook, also were arrested. Ixta was charged with possession of cannabis and unlawful use of a driver’s license and Sampang was charged with interfering with a police officer.

“There was an odor of burnt cannabis coming from inside the car, and upon search, Ixta was found to be in possession of a drug that later tested positive for cannabis,” said Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka. “(Sampang) provided the arresting officer with a false name but wasn’t in possession of anything illegal.”
