With two new courts on the horizon, the Hinsdale Platform Tennis Association is looking for ways to fund its project.
On Tuesday, Hinsdale’s village board is scheduled to consider a request from the HPTA to solicit for donations and sell lifetime memberships in order to generate funds for the two courts.
“The HPTA is proposing to sell 75 additional lifetime memberships to finance the courts,” said Village Manager David Cook.
Cook said the lifetime memberships currently run $1,500 for Hinsdale families and $2,500 for non-resident families.
HPTA is also selling a contributing member package for $500 which includes recognition at the organization’s 2011-12 opening ceremony and waived membership fees for that season.
There is a public hearing set for Jan. 12 at Memorial Hall to discuss the special use and site plan review needed before the tennis courts can be constructed at Katherine Legge Memorial Park.
Cook also said he and other village officials have been in discussion with Burr Ridge about the courts’ close proximity to the neighboring municipality.
“We believe we have a compromise we can both agree to,” Cook said Monday morning. “We’re still crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s, but there will be explicit conditions in the approval.”
