District 113 Hosts Community Engagement Meetings

In late August, the District 113 Board of Education voted to retain an architectural firm, Wight Company, to work with administrators, community members, staff and students to complete a comprehensive facilities audit. Working together, they will generate an assessment of our buildings and grounds. Furthermore, based upon input from all stakeholders, they will make recommendations regarding life safety capital projects, renovation, or reconfiguration of space. Through this work we will strive to answer the following question:  Are there significant life safety and renovation projects that must be completed in order to maintain our educational excellence?

The District is hosting a series of Community Open Houses designed to hear the views of the stakeholders within our community. Meetings will be held at both high schools. All of the meetings begin at 7:00 PM and will end by 9:30 PM and will be held at the school noted. The dates and locations for the meetings are as follows:

Meeting Schedule:

Location:  Deerfield High School

Dates:  September 28 (Community Open House #1), October 27 (Community Open House #2), December 7 (Community Open House #3)

Location:  Highland Park High School

Dates:  September 21 (Community Open House #1), November 2 (Community Open House #2), November 30 (Community Open House #3)

Please accept our invitation to be a part of this essential work. The students of our community will surely benefit from your interest and time.
