Mayor Kovarik (center) and others celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Bakers Square

If you haven’t noticed yet, Bakers Square, located near Gurnee Mills at 6340 Grand Ave in Gurnee has remodeled. "It's all part of the new restaurant/pie experience you get at Bakers Square", says store manager Michele Kenzer. "We've updated the entire store and our clients love it". Mayor Kristina Kovarik, a long time customer of the store was on hand for a Grand Re-Opening Ceremony held by the Village of Gurnee Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday night. "I love the food here and the pie is to die for" said Kovarik. Several chamber members came out for the ribbon cutting including Jennifer Gilbert from the Gurnee Park District. Gilbert’s first job several years ago, as a student in Gurnee, was at this store. She, Kinzer and the mayor spent time reminiscing about the "old days". Kovarik's daughter met her husband here when they were teenagers. "We have a long history with the community", says Kinzer, "I have been at this location 17 years and have strong bonds with many of the customers."
Chamber Executive Director Craig Hathaway was on hand to welcome Bakers Square as one of the new members. "We are proud to have Bakers Square in our membership; they are a big part of the community".
