Passages Hospice has presented Zion resident Trevor Hall, 17, with a check to pay for the ambulance services he accrued after saving a drowning child in a Wisconsin lake on August 23rd.

“I am so pleased to honor Trevor Hall,” said Seth Gillman, Administrator of Passages Hospice.  “Trevor had the courage to do the right thing, and not to hesitate.”

Hall entered Silver Lake in Kenosha, Wisconsin to rescue Aaron Puente, 14, who was struggling and calling for help.  After the rescue, Hall was taken to Aurora Medical Center for a precautionary examination.

Initially, Hall’s legal guardian was charged more than $2,000 for the ambulance and hospital services.  Aurora Medical Center has forgiven the $1200 hospital bill, but Hall’s guardian was still left with a significant charge for the ambulance ride.

Passages Hospice announced Monday that it will pay the full charge of the ambulance bill out of gratitude for the teen’s dedication to his community.

“I was moved by Trevor’s selfless act,” Gillman said.  “We at Passages Hospice have something in common with Trevor.  We are in the business of helping people and families, so naturally we wanted to help Trevor and his family in their time of need.”

Hall was honored Monday afternoon during an award ceremony at the Daley Center plaza downtown.  Representative Jack Franks (D-Woodstock) issued a commemorative proclamation and presented Hall with a Good Samaritan Award for his heroic efforts.  Secretary of State Jesse White thanked Hall for his bravery and good citizenship, and Passages Hospice Administrator Seth Gillman presented Hall with a check for his remaining medical expenses.
