Theft over $300
Someone stole ornamental grass from outside Watson Pharmaceuticals on Tri-State Parkway sometime over the weekend. Items taken included six native Guatemala grass bushes, valued at $60-$70 each, plus labor to plant the bushes.
Criminal damage to property/vehicle
Someone drove down the 1400 block of Camden Drive on Aug. 31 and dumped garbage on a driveway. Eight mailboxes were also damaged in the immediate area.
Suspicious circumstance
Someone left an envelope in a mailbox in the 4100 block of South Brown Circle that said, “To the coolest Serbian I know; hope Zion is safe LOL” sometime between Aug. 28 and Aug. 30.
A woman in the 6700 block of Derby Drive at Northlake Apartments told police Aug. 31 that she was “on to” her neighbor, who she believes is dealing drugs. The responding officer filed a report and notified management of the woman’s suspicions.
Stray dog
A woman in the 3600 block of Grandview Avenue complained that her neighbor’s dog, a brown and white pit bull, chased her into her home and knocked over the flower pot on her front stoop on Aug. 31. The woman said she “ran for her life,” according to the police report, and also said the dog is often out of its yard. The dog’s owners were outside and witnessed the incident.
Traffic altercation
A woman said a man in a black truck tried to run her off the road three times on Augt. 31 near Route 41 and Washington Street, and that she swerved to avoid collisions each time. She identified the truck’s license plate, and said she thought she could identify the driver as well.
Retail theft
A man detained for stealing DVDs from Target on Route 132 claimed he was having chest pains after being caught. He was cited for theft and transported to the hospital for his pains.
A teen was cited for theft on Aug. 31 and released to his parents for taking a $38 pair of jeans from Sears Grand on Route 132.
Canine duty
Police called in canine assistance for a burglary in progress at Wrecker Services Central on Washington Street on Aug. 31, but the dog was unable to locate anyone in the parking lot.
