Grayslake's own Glunz Family Winery & Cellars is setting up shop with a Wine and Beer Garden at the 54th annual Gold Coast Art Fair at Grant Park, taking place Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10! The Glunz Family Winery Wine and Beer Garden will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Guests of the festival will be able to enjoy Glunz’s small batch fortified wines and traditionally derived seasonal "Fun Wines" like its signature de la Costa Sangria. A portion of proceeds from the Glunz Family Wine and Beer Garden will benefit the Chicago Special Olympics, who will also be on-site at the festival! The Glunz Family Wine and Beer Garden adds to a perfect day at the Gold Coast Art Fair!
FREE and open to the public, the Gold Coast Art Fair showcases the work of more than 350 acclaimed artists from around the world. Festival-goers will have to the opportunity to peruse and purchase artwork in a variety of mediums including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, sculpture, mixed media, paintings, drawings, photography, wood and furniture. In addition to the artwork available for purchase at the fair, many of the artists take commissions and will make one-of-a-kind pieces for art enthusiasts. Original works range in price from $15 to $25,000, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Festival-goers will have the opportunity to learn from the masters with interactive art demonstrations and educational booth chats taking place all weekend long. Exhibiting artists will demonstrate and discuss what goes into making their original works and even give guests of the festival a chance to try it for themselves.
In addition to the work available from the juried artists, the festival also hosts twenty students from the School of the Art Institute Chicago (SAIC). The Gold Coast Art Fair offers these young artists the opportunity to participate in one of the most well attended art festivals in the country. Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top three graduate art programs in the nation, SAIC has a unique educational philosophy built upon an interdisciplinary approach to art and design.
Throughout the weekend, festival-goers will enjoy live music including David Young, Mark Adamczyk, Brad Cole and Chicago’s favorite acoustic rock duo Cirrus Falcon. Speed painting sensation Tim Decker will also take the stage at select times throughout the weekend to create unique works of art in less than five minutes! Great food is also available throughout the weekend. An eclectic selection of delicious cuisines, including dishes with Mediterranean flare as well as Chicago favorites, like Home Run Inn Pizza, are available for purchase at the festival. Activities for kids, including an art scavenger hunt, also take place at the Gold Coast Art Fair. Make-A-Messterpiece, the ultimate creative studio for children ages 0 – 12, will also be on site encouraging young artists to “Say YES to the MESS!”
