Students, parents rally to support tax increase in District 31

Chanting "Save our schools," parents and students from West Northfield School District 31 marched up Landwehr Road through Glenview and Northbrook on Tuesday to show their support for a tax increase referendum.

The adults and students carried red balloons and handmade signs with slogans like "I love band" and "Vote yes" as they walked from the Glenview Ice Arena to the Northbrook Community Synagogue.

The parade and rally were organized by referendum support group Citizens for District 31.

District officials recently announced they would have to cut $1 million worth of expenses, including virtually all extra curricular activities, from the budget in the next two years if voters don't approve the tax increase March 20.
