Goslin, Jurczak Receive Illinois Park & Recreation Association Community Service Awards

Two local businessmen will be honored at the March 24 Glenview Park Board meeting with 2010 Illinois Park & Recreation Association Community Service Awards for their strong support of the Glenview Park District and its programs. The meeting will take place at 7 pm at Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave.

Greg Goslin is a longtime Glenview resident and owner of the Abington of Glenview, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. For more than 10 years, Goslin has served as a board member on the Glenview 4th of July Commission, a volunteer group responsible for assisting the Glenview Park District staff in planning the community's annual celebration and helping to raise the nearly $85,000 required annually to bring the parade and fireworks to the community. Choosing to lead by example, Goslin’s business, the Abington, has sponsored the ever popular Bike Parade that kicks off Glenview’s July 4th festivities for the past 10 years. His generosity in giving of his time and company resources, coupled with his dedicated public service as a Cook County Commissioner, has made him a shining example of community volunteerism and support.

While Daniel Jurczak grew up in Glenview, he is relatively new to the business community having only recently brought his company, Jurczak Farmers Insurance Agency to Glenview. As a new member of the business community, however, Jurczak and his company wasted no time in becoming a leader in community involvement and support. In his first year of business in 2010, Jurczak took on the presenting sponsor role in the Glenview Park Foundation’s two hallmark events, The Firecracker Classic and 3v3 Summer Soccer Fest. Jurczak also stepped up to with strong financial support of Glenview’s Fourth of July celebration and the Park Center Triathlon and has committed to that same level of support for these Park District and Foundation events in 2011. Jurczak’s generosity demonstrates a clear belief in a business’s responsibility to invest in opportunities that make a community an excellent place to live and work. Jurczak is a shining example of a new generation of business and community leaders who understand what makes a community thrive and are willing to lead the way in making sure that happens.
