Central United Methodist Church of Skokie is hosting a Central Concert Series this fall to help renovate the Log Cabin. The Log Cabin on Concord Lane had been built in 1930 as a hunting lodge. Until 1953, services and Sunday School were held in the Log Cabin. Today the Log Cabin is used for Sunday School and meetings.
Congregation members voted to restore the Log Cabin in the spring of 2009. Proceeds from the Concerts to benefit the Log Cabin Renovation.

About Central United Methodist Church and Log Cabin
Central United Methodist Church was first started in 1923 in the Bronx building in Skokie. In 1930 the church moved to the Log Cabin.
The Log Cabin on Concord Lane had been built in 1930 as a hunting lodge. Until 1953, services and Sunday School were held in the Log Cabin. Today the Log Cabin is used for Sunday School and meetings.
In 1953 the present Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall were dedicated. In 1957 the Education Building on Kenton Avenue was occupied for Sunday School.?In 1969 the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist Church joined to become the United Methodist Church. Central officially became Central United Methodist Church.?In 1969 the north and south stained glass windows were dedicated. Each window shows a portion of Jesus’s life with application for today. The Resurrection Window was dedicated in 1976 on the west wall.?In 1998 ground was broken to remodel the sanctuary building and make it accessible. Easter, 2000, we moved into a spectacular new building with an elevator, new organ and updated sound system. The sanctuary and fellowship hall are now accessible to all. In the spring of 2009 the congregation voted to restore the Log Cabin and make it accessible.
Plans are going ahead with that project at this time.??Many faces – Common faith is the motto of Central United Methodist Church. We celebrate the diversity within our congregation through worship, music, and social events.?The 75th anniversary of Central United Methodist Church was celebrated in 2005.
