Jr. Titans Feed Off of Early Season Success
2012 is off to a roaring start for the Jr. Titans Boys Feeder Basketball Program as three teams took home tournament championships from the January 6-8th Jr. Warrior Feeder Tournament at Joy of the Game in Deerfield. The Titans' 8th Grade Gold team, coached by Donnell Thomas and Brandon Watts, took down the undefeated Conant Cougars in the division finals while both the 6th Grade Gold and 5th Grade Gold squads posted perfect records and defeated Glencoe and Deerfield Red respectively to win the tournament titles.
Danny Tuchman and Andrew Braverman's 6th Graders won all of their games by double-digits, utilizing an aggressive full-court press and strong man-to-man defense in the half-court to out-hustle their opponents. The Jr. Titan 5th Graders first took down Deerfield Red in pool play before besting the same Jr. Warriors by 17-points in the championship game; the team is coached by Brett Elkins.
The 6th-8th grade Jr. Titans will be back in action to compete in Glenbrook North's Martin Luther King Jr. Tournament on Sunday, January 15th, and Monday, January 16th.
The Jr. Titans 4th and 5th grade teams compete in the North Suburban Basketball League and the 6th-8th grade teams compete in the Greater Suburban Basketball Association. For More information about the Jr. Titans, please visit www.jrtitansbasketball.com
