Glen Grove Students Create Books for Children in Guatemala
As part of a Glenview Education Foundation grant awarded to Glen Grove teachers Brenda Kraber, Courtney Reynolds and Matthew Vogel and LRC Director Linda Diekman, Glen Grove students have been researching and writing nonfiction books for children in Guatemala. The books which the third, fourth and fifth grade students in Ms. Reynolds', Mr. Vogel's and Ms. Kraber's respective classes create have been translated via email by GBS Spanish Honor Society students, for which the GBS students receive volunteer hours for their Honor Society membership. Glen Grove students recently met with the presidents of the Glenbrook South Spanish Honor Society to learn about the process of translating books from English into Spanish. The books which have been completed have been sent to Guatemala with Mary Prybl who is a member of the Glenview Rotary Sunrise. The next set of books will be translated cooperatively with the Glen Grove students working directly with the GBS students in late February.

This is excellence at work! How lucky are the children of Glenview to have such wonderful and creative educators! Three cheers for the Glen Grove school!
