When Central Community Unit School District 301 students are out of school for the summer, construction teams will come in to improve some of the school buildings.

The board last week approved an air conditioning upgrade at Prairie View Grade School in Elgin, replacing the main roof on Central Middle School in Burlington, and upgrading the wireless network system throughout the district.

According to district officials, the roofing will be done by DGG Roofing Company, the same company that handled the roofing project at Howard B. Thomas Grade School in Burlington last year.

MG Mechanical Contracting Inc. in Woodstock, will be improving the air conditioning system at Prairie View.

“Prairie View will be the last school in the district to receive an air conditioning upgrade,” Superintendent Todd Stirn said.
