Glenview police are waiting to speak to an 84-year-old woman who drove her car into the Glenview Post Office this morning.
The woman was taken to Glenbrook Hospital for treatment and evaluation around 8:40 a.m., according to police.
A witness told police that the woman drove the 2001 Toyota Avalon through the parking lot of the post office, 1400 Patriot Boulevard, accelerated and jumped a curb, crashing it into the main entryway.
Due to the woman’s condition, police were unable to speak to her at the scene or hospital. No post office employees or patrons were injured.

It is really tragic that these accidents happen invloving our elderly referring back to the senior who fell with her walker on the train tracks at Glenview Road last week. There is a significant poplulation of seniors in Glenview, many who rely on getting around by foot and car, traveling alone. Look out for them and lend a helping hand.
Apparently she was sick and tired of waiting forever in line and simply went “postal.”
This is just another example of why it should not be so easy for senior citizens to maintain their drivers license.
