Glenview police officers and youths will hit the ground running next week to raise money for athletes with disabilities.
About 14 officers from the Glenview Police Department will participate in Run With the Law, a benefit for Special Olympics Illinois, at 4:30 p.m. April 27 beginning in Gallery Park, according to a press release.
Students from Attea and Springman middle schools in Glenview Public School District 34 also are scheduled to take part.
Participants are asked to raise at lease $50 from friends, family and other members of the community. Proceeds will benefit year-round training for about 21,000 athletes with disabilities and 6,000 athletes ages 2-7 with or without disabilities, according to the release.
Run With the Law is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, the largest fundraising event benefiting the nonprofit organization.
Anyone interested in participating or contributing should contact Glenview Officer Ken Smith at 847-486-7713. Donors also can contribute at www.runwiththelaw.org.
