Fall is a beautiful time of year, but also a time of transition. We return to the rush of packed schedules, demands can increase at the workplace, and new family dynamics can emerge as children adjust to entering or being back to school and more. All of these things can lead to increased stress. Many wonder what kind of tools might be available to better cope with life’s everyday challenges. Beginning September 13th, the Glencoe Park District will host an empowering course by Family Service of Glencoe therapist and mind-body wellness specialist Anne Rossen, LCPC, to help kick off the fall season right.

Destination: Well-Being” at the Park District has been designed to teach specific skills that can help enrollees take personal charge of their health and wellness by imparting a solid understanding of how our minds and bodies can interact to affect our health. The course will feature a relaxed, fun and supportive group setting where individuals can learn and practice easy but effective research-based techniques to help manage the stresses of everyday living, address the challenges of change, and promote overall well-being.

“The connection between the mind and body has become more widely accepted, but the techniques to help manage that connection can sometimes feel out of reach,” says Anne Rossen, LCPC, a therapist for Family Service of Glencoe with advanced training from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine (cmbm.org). “With our busy lives, it’s not always easy to take the time for oneself. I’m excited about the opportunity to share ideas on various easy-to-adopt wellness practices and techniques I have learned that don’t take a lot of time, but can make a true difference in how we feel day to day, reducing stress and increasing a feeling of overall well-being.”

This informal, non-traditional course will feature a dynamic group setting, instruction in meditation, guided imagery, expressive journal writing and drawing, biofeedback, and mindful eating – a comprehensive and fun introduction to an important topic in today’s world.

The course costs $182 for residents, $200 for non-residents.  Enroll now by visiting www.glencoeparkdistrict.com or calling 847-835-3030. Don’t delay – the course begins September 13th!
