The madness started before March when 21st-seeded Glenbard West opened the Illinois High School Association Class 4A Tournament by knocking off 11th-seeded Oswego East, 61-55, in overtime Feb. 28 at the Glenbard East Regional.

Two days later, March 2, West stunned sixth-seeded Waubonsie Valley, 63-62. The Hilltoppers finished the regular season 9-16, but these two victories, coupled with the fact that 11 underclassmen are on the roster, should bode well for next season.

Waubonsie (16-11) has six underclassmen on the roster, including two sophomores.
