Pianist Mark Lindeblad performs at Church of Beethoven classical concert in Oak Park

Mark Lindeblad, pianist for the Glenbard South High School Choir will perform "Quiet City" by Aaron Copland, along with music of Haydn, Johann Wilhelm Hertel and Oskar Böhme at the Church of Beethoven in Oak Park on Sunday, August 14 at 10:30 am. Trattoria 225, 225 Harrison St., Oak Park IL 60304. 708-355-8555

Lindeblad will accompany DuPage Symphony Orchestra members Margie Arito, oboe and Mike Brozick, trumpet.

"Quiet City" was a piece composed by Copland in 1940 to accompany a play by Irwin Shaw about a man who "abandons his Jewishness" to accumulate to material wealth. The haunting trumpet melody accompanies a nostalgic remembrance of the protagonist's brother and his trumpet playing.

The Church of Beethoven is a one-hour family-friendly classical “mini-concert” with poetry and two minutes of silence.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/children
