HONEY RESTAURANT RECEIVES GLEN ELLYN ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION COMMERICAL RECYCLING AWARD

GLEN ELLYN, IL – The Glen Ellyn Environmental Commission is pleased to announce that it has awarded Honey, a downtown Glen Ellyn establishment, with a Commercial Recycling Award.  Honey President Elizabeth Janus will be presented with the award at the June 28, 2010 Village Board Meeting, held in the Glen Ellyn Civic Center, 535 Duane Street, at 8:00 p.m.

Known as the “Glen Ellyn Recycles Award,” the program, which was launched in early 2010 by the Commission, is designed to encourage recycling and re-use of appropriate items by non-residential organizations.    To be eligible for the award, organizations must recycle at least half of their waste.  “Honey’s application demonstrated the business’ great efforts to be a green leader in Glen Ellyn and the restaurant community. The Environmental Commission truly appreciates these efforts and encourages other businesses in Glen Ellyn to work towards these environmental goals and apply for the award as well,” Environmental Commission Chairman Bob Marcott stated.

For questions or more information about the program, please contact Kristen Schrader, Staff Liaison to the Environmental Commission, at 630-469-5000, or visit the Environmental Commission webpage at www.glenellyn.org/Commissions/Environmental.html.
