The Glen Ellyn Public Library will transform into an 18-hole miniature golf course later this month.
The second annual “Swinging thru the Stacks” fundraiser for the library is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27. Golfers and anyone up for some “unorthodox library fun” are invited to tackle the challenging course, which will operate after the library’s normal operating hours, for $5 per person, said Library Marketing Coordinator Heidi Gustad.
The money raised will benefit the library’s butterfly garden, an area to the north of the library’s parking lot featuring butterfly friendly bushes and flowers. Library Director Dawn Bussey said money raised this year will help add benches and more flowers and plants to the garden.
Last year, about 175 golfers participated in the fundraiser, raising more than $9,700, Gustad said. To encourage more participation this year, a snack booth will be open at the course’s ninth hole with popcorn and candy, among other items, for sale.
