The days seem to be flying by with all the kindness about. Yesterday I had my son involved in helping and today I grabbed one more to add to my kindness committee, my husband. Trying to focus on not only being more kind, giving back more and trying to put more good Karma out into the world than absorb it is my goal. This weekend I focused more on being able to do those things with finding kindness that didn’t require buying something, even if it was something small, placing another seed into the hands of someone else to spread the good feelings further and further.
After being able to spend some family time with my two men, big and little, we were headed to soak up some needed vitamin D outside at the park. On the way I told them I wanted to hit a street to bring up all the recycling and rubbish bins to the houses. Something that doesn’t take long to do but if you’re coming home from a long day or have a fussy one in the car or even feeling under the weather, it’s a nice surprise to see that your bins have somehow made their way up to the house. Pulling down a random street near the park I jumped out to start my mission. About halfway up a driveway I saw my husband out across the street doing the same thing, I never asked, he just did it. More I think because he knows how important this is to me to do and as a team we can tackle a task faster. Up and down the street we went and instead of heading right to the park we did another street as well and even brought a church’s bins up too.
What I would hope happens is maybe a person thinks their neighbor helped out and did it so the next time the bins are out they will return the favor and something that can be more ongoing. Something so small but that’s all it takes to make a difference in someone’s day. That one thing that can give them that smiling moment to know someone else out there thinks they are worth a little help.
The park was great of course, a couple times trying to recreate the Wipeout show and chasing one another laughing and appreciating the time we had together. We did not focus on the fact that my husband should have been working but there weren’t jobs for him today, just knowing at the end of the day being the best you possible and good health and family can get you where you need to be. Believe me I know it sounds cliché and overly positive but imagine how we could all improve from being just a smidge nicer or more positive? Share your story of kindness or do one today.
Pulling onto our street we saw everyone’s bins still out we made a challenge with the three of us racing up driveways and sharing some kindness with the ones that are surrounding us too. First week down tomorrow.
