The going-out-of-business sign that went up briefly at Schauer’s Hardware in Forest Park may have left some customers scratching their heads. But the local business was never in danger of closing — the sign was part of Schauer’s role in the new TV series “The Chicago Code.” The hardware store was featured in a flashback sequence near the beginning of the show’s Feb. 7 pilot episode.
