A group of musicians and DJs from across the United States entertained a crowd of people who donated food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository on December 6th. With the support of 39th District State Representative Toni Berrios and Music Plant Records, founder/owner Georgie Porgie hosted the event at Moonshines in Chicago. The food collected will be given to charitable organizations, including the Armitage Baptist Church and the Women and Childrens Shelter in Evanston this holiday season.
The show featured well-known artists who appear on IMRadio as well as many other venues. The night began with music provided by DJs. From Chicago, Tod Miner and G Cavelle appeared. With his first single, Reach For The Sky, ready to be released, Tod Miner has “his eyes, ears, feet and heart deeply rooted in dance music.” Chicagos very own G Cavelle also thrilled the crowd with his work behind the decks, and he showed why his music is climbing the Billboard Charts.
Famous New York City DJs Harry Tower and Jimmy Smith also appeared. Harry Towers Deet Promotions represents the most exciting DJs and artists in the country, and he and Jimmy brought their New York style to Chicagos Division Street for this great benefit concert. Jimmy and Harry got the entire crowd dancing to the music.
The second half of the show featured live performances from five of entertainments great singers. Tony Cruz started the show. Tony has been performing in Miami clubs since he arrived in the USA from Brazil in 1982. He has completed his first major work on a CD titled Song for Honey. Newcomer Wayne Taylor was next on stage, and he thrilled the audience with a voice that showed remarkable range.
At this point in the evening, the crowd was ready for three women whose voices and stage presence made this Holiday Benefit a remarkable show. Linda Clifford, Pepper Mashay, and CeCe Penniston thrilled their fans by singing many of their biggest hits. Linda Clifford used the acting talent evident in her feature film performances to capture the moment as he sang her most popular songs. Pepper Mashay has worked with singers like Mick Jagger, Whitney Houston, and Tina Turner, and she got the crowd dancing by singing her hits. As CeCe Penniston took the stage, she took the crowd to new heights when she sang her international hit single and signature song Finally. Georgie Porgie wrapped up the evening as he performed his hits Sunshine and I Believe. All of the singers joined him on stage for a finish that made everyone glad they came out to support the holiday food drive.
