St. Joan of Arc Junior High Performs Willy Wonka Jr.

EVANSTON -- St. Joan of Arc junior high students staged a sweet performance of Willy Wonka Jr. on April 29. Under the direction of Junior High teachers Angie Buis and Diane McKee the students performed the musical version of Roald Dahl’s story about the famous candy man and his quest to find an heir.Willy Wonka was played by 8th grader Declan Harris, Evanston, and Charlie Bucket was played by Margarita Medina.

Charlie’s family was played by Katie Taylor as Mrs. Bucket, Jack Schermerhorn as Mr. Bucket, Liam Walsh as Grandpa Joe, Sarah Bogan as Grandma Josephina, Gregory Kim as Grandpa George and Isabelle Glavin as Grandma Georgina.Conor Dowling played James, and Grace Haughey played Matilda, two of Charlie’s friends.

In the play, five lucky children and their parents win golden tickets and win a tour of the chocolate factory. Quinn Mannard played Phineous Trout, the TV reporter who covers the event, Austin Klopfer played Augustus Gloop and Murphy Beattie played Mrs. Gloop; Keeley Martell played Veruca Salt and Tommy Haughey played Mr. Salt; Maureen Kerr played Violet Beauregarde and Grace Richmond played Mrs. Beauregarde; Ryan Larkin played Mike Teavee and Emily Iglar played Mrs. Teavee.

Various Oompa-loompas, candy man kids, cooks and squirrels were played by Christian Amato, Roberto Ansani, Jack Betterman, Kelsey Clesen, Sarah Connolly, Jessica Ebert, Helen Enghauser, Caitlin Flanagan, Larkin Flanagan, Allison Goss, Kevin Hallinan, Rory Higgins, Billy Hoffmann, Stephanie Hrajnoha, Patrick Kane, Francesca Lucchesi, Quinn Menzies, Laura Moy, Michael Muno, Peter Naughton, Matthew Sheridan, Pharoah Sherod and Dillon Woodward.
