Lockport’s Harvey performs at Packers game

Lockport’s Joe Harvey was among musicians from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Marching Band who performed last weekend at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in front of an expected crowd of more than 80,000 people as the Packers faced the Los Angeles Chargers.

Harvey, who is studying liberal arts, is a member of the band’s tuba section.

The 162-member band was invited to perform at halftime and postgame at Lambeau Field for the first time since 2017.

Mokena’s Sanders appears in Lewis University production

Elizabeth Sanders of Mokena is participating in “Four Plays for Coarse Actors,” written by Michael Green.

There will be performances Nov. 30-Dec. 3 at Lewis University’s Philip Lynch Theatre in Romeoville.

Oak Lawn’s Blake Attig, who is majoring in design engineering technology at Trine University, performed with the Trine University Jazz Band on Nov. 5.

Frankfort’s Abigail Hansen of Frankfort, a chemical engineering major, performed with the Trine University Choir in a joint fall concert with the Trine University Orchestra on Oct. 29.

Lockport’s Bates is designer in UW-Whitewater play

Michael Bates from Lockport, who is studying theatre at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, was part of the university’s production of “Much Ado About Nothing” by William Shakespeare.

Bates is a member of the production team serving in the role of scenic designer.

Mokena’s Gillund inducted into honor society

Charlie Gillund of Mokena was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Gillund was initiated at The University of Kansas.

Homewood’s Butler named to wrestling team at UW-Whitewater

Homewood’s Jermaine Butler, who is studying entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has earned a roster spot on the Warhawk wrestling team for the 2023-24 season.

Orland Park’s Fields receives Canton scholarship

Terrence J. Fields, a SUNY Canton Management major from Orland Park, received the Canton College Foundation North Country Academic Scholarship.

Orland Park’s Bornstein achieves SCUBA certification

Danielle Bornstein, a biology and geography major from Orland Park, was one of 19 Augustana College students to recently complete their SCUBA certification.

“They descended to depths of 40 feet while demonstrating specific skills, faced fears and braced against the dark, frigid waters of Haigh Quarry in Kankakee,” said Susan Wolf, Augustana’s educational programs coordinator.
