Cook County authorities say a 30-year-old Evanston man had 20 rocks of crack cocaine hidden in his buttocks when Evanston police searched him at their station.
Joseph Carter, 30, of the 1500 block of Emerson Street in Evanston, was arrested near the intersection of Emerson Street and Dodge Avenue on Feb. 14, according to prosecutors. When he was searched at the Evanston police department, investigators found 6.9 grams of crack cocaine cut into 20 pieces and packaged for sale hidden in Carter’s buttocks, prosecutors said during a court appearance Feb. 17.
He is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Authorities said Carter has an extensive criminal record, including theft and drug convictions and was on probation at the time of his arrest.
Cook County Circuit Court Judge Larry Axelrood ordered Carter held without bond on the violation of probation charges.
Carter is schedule for a March 12 hearing at the Skokie courthouse.
