Elmhurst Fire Department Tackles the Tower

The Elmhurst Fire Department competed in the American Lung Association stair climb on February 8, 2009. The climb raised money to assist with the education and prevention against lung disease. Seven members from the department which included the Chief put on their  turnout gear and climbed 62 flights or 680 steps to the top for the best overall time in the firefighter competition. This was the fourth year in a row that the Elmhurst Fire Dept has had the best overall time in the event. FF Joestein Alvestad won the overall competition with a time of 3 minutes 25 seconds.

The team pictured above consisted of (right to left): FF Andrew Scarlett,  FF Jostein Alvestad, FF William Solka, Lt. Bill Anaszewicz, FF Steve Reynolds, and Chief Mike Kopp.
