It didn’t take a wave of a wand, but like magic, the run of the Elmhurst Historical Museum’s Magical History Tour has been extended until Jan.2.

The exhibit opened on June 15 and was slated to close Sept. 12.  Patrice Roche, director of marketing, said the exhibit, which chronicles the history of magic in Chicago, has been popular and attracted people from throughout the region.

“It has been drawing visitors from throughout the Chicago area, and has even brought a few people from the magic community from out-of-state,” Roche said. “I met some visitors the other day from Indiana who were on their third visit.”

Attendance at the exhibit from June 15  through Aug. 30 was 4,063. Attendance last year during the same time frame for an exhibit on comic books was 3,983.

“We’re seeing steady growth and interest and trying extension of our summer exhibit to see if we can sustain its popularity,” Roche said.

The exhibit was developed by curator Lance Tawzer, who said the object of the museum’s summer exhibition program is to find a history subject that can be presented in a fun and interesting way to people of all ages.

The museum is located at 120 E. Park Ave.
