The Elk Grove High School Speech team competed at the Mid Suburban League (MSL) Conference Tournament at Harper College on Jan. 28, where Head Coach Chuck Cavazos was voted MSL Coach of the Year. The following students were MSL Conference Finalists: senior Cheryl Victuelles, 6th Place in Radio Speaking; senior Allen Fearing, 5th Place in Original Comedy; seniors Christina Erbacci and Fearing, 4th Place in Humorous Duet Acting; and junior Grace Allen and sophomore Dustin Beelow, 3rd Place in Dramatic Duet Acting.

On Friday Jan. 17 and Saturday Jan. 18, the EGHS Speech team competed at the Downers Grove South High School Invitational, the state's largest invitational meet. The following students advanced to the semi-final round of competition: junior Marissa Cozzi in Prose Reading; and juniors Celine Hall and Daniel Nikov in Dramatic Duet Acting.

Next Saturday, the Elk Grove Speech team will host and compete at the IHSA Regional Tournament in its own backyard, hoping to continue its successful season.
