Woman hurt in Elk Grove workplace accident

A worker at an Elk Grove Village company that manufactures industrial-grade clays suffered a serious arm injury Wednesday morning, the fire department said.

The Elk Grove Village Fire Department responded at just after 10 a.m. to Polyform Products, 1901 Estes Ave., where they treated a female employee whose arm had caught in an auger that mixes a clay product, said Battalion Chief Mark Sellers.

The employee was working in the company’s lab where small-batch samples are created before manufacturing, Sellers explained.

The woman was conscious when she was transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village with a serious arm injury. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration was contacted, Sellers said.
