Aspiring to make a difference in the lives of area children and their families, area residents Kurt and Laura Daniel opened the Primrose School of South Elgin on July 11, 2011, featuring a high-quality, accredited curriculum shown to prepare students for success in school and life.
Over the past six years, Primrose Schools have used the Bracken Assessment to ensure the effectiveness of the Balanced Learning® curriculum. Results at the national level indicate Primrose students are ready for school – more than 90 percent of Primrose students mastered 80 percent of the Bracken school readiness concepts. Primrose students also show 1.5 times more growth than their peers in concepts mastered by the end of the school year.
To mark Primrose Schools’ official entrance into South Elgin, franchise owners Laura and Kurt Daniel are inviting families to a Grand Opening event on Saturday, August 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration will feature tours of the new school, a complimentary lunch, a magician, generous raffles and much more.
"Given the stellar reputation of Primrose Schools across the country, we're proud to bring the Primrose name and their highly regarded accredited curriculum to the South Elgin community," said Laura. "Our new school will give local parents the peace of mind they need and deserve, knowing that their children are learning and being nurtured while they’re away at work.”
The 8,000 square foot Primrose School of South Elgin is the only local school that will offer the exclusive Balanced Learning® curriculum for children ages six weeks to five years old. Developed by and taught exclusively at Primrose Schools, Balanced Learning© blends teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with a special emphasis on character development in our schools.
The new Primrose School of South Elgin, located at 450 Briargate Dr. in South Elgin, is the first Primrose School in the Chicagoland area. Laura and Kurt said the new school will provide an unmatched educational child care experience to area families, and noted that it has already positively impacted the local economy by adding 12 new jobs, and $2.7 million in project costs.
The school will feature eight private classrooms with state-of-the-art wireless technology. Outdoors, three separate and secure age-appropriate playgrounds will accommodate each stage of the children's early development with equipment specifically designed to help them develop and grow their gross motor skills. Children also develop their fine motor skills in the Primrose Patch – a garden.
As safety is a top priority, the new school also features the official Primrose Schools Safe School Plan, which provides guidelines to ensure ongoing safety measures are in place and parents as well as staff members are prepared for any kind of emergency. A password-protected website keeps parents informed of the emergency procedures and any critical information in the case of a situation requiring immediate attention at the school.
