For the eighth year in Elgin, Cinderella’s Closet will allow high school girls to afford a dress for prom.

The Elgin Junior Service Board and the Elgin YWCA has organized a Cinderella’s Closet boutique from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 17, at the YWCA, 220 E. Chicago St. Girls can get dresses, jewelry and purses for prom. A $5 donation for the items is appreciated, and will be put toward YWCA youth programs.

At the event, girls are greeted by “Fairy Godmothers”, who serve as personal shoppers.

To be eligible, girls must have proof of current high school enrollment.
