The Elgin YWCA and state Rep. Keith Farnham, D-Elgin, will host a free self defense seminar for women March 14.

An Illinois State Police instructor will lead the seminar at 7 p.m. at the YWCA, 220 E. Chicago St.

The event is aimed at increasing awareness and keeping women save. The physical techniques are basic and allow anyone, including those with physical limitations, to participate.
