Taking an early inventory of your holiday decorations? Don’t know what to do with the strands of Christmas lights that are tangled, broken or have lost their glow? Here’s a bright idea; recycle them!
For the second year, the Village of Downers Grove will be accepting used Christmas lights during business hours, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Public Works Facility, 5101 Walnut Ave. Collection will begin on November 14, 2011 and continue through the post-holiday season until February 10, 2012.
Those participating in the program will receive a coupon valid for $2 off a set of energy-efficient LED lights at Kin-ko Ace Hardware, 6216 Main St. in Downers Grove. But be sure to recycle those lights early….. the coupon expires December 16, 2011.
All light colors and strand lengths will be accepted. Items include mini-lights (Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights, and extension cords.
