Oakley Home Builders Wins HBAGC Key Award For Third Consecutive Year

Oakley Home Builders Wins Key Award

Oakley Home Builders Wins Key Award

Oakley Home Builders was recognized for the third time at the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards Dinner. Oakley Home Builders was honored for “Excellence in New Construction: Custom Home 3,501 -4,300 sq. ft.” for our home at 1400 Bonnie Brae, River Forest.

This incredible cape inspired home gives new meaning to the word “Estate.” Our magnificent custom home on an extra-wide lot in River Forest boasts 5 bedrooms, 5 and a half baths. It includes both a finished attic and finished basement for a more spacious living environment.

Our new homeowners decided to build a custom home in historic River Forest. The home style is a craftsman and European mix with a traditional feel. We asked Shannon why she chose this style of home. “The home has a traditional feel with modern touches that meet a young families needs, open floor plan, 2nd floor laundry, mud room, play room and more. At the same time the home has elegant touches for the adults to enjoy such as a wine cellar with wine tasting area, wet bar, exercise room, sun room and a luxurious theater room. Everything is top notch.”

We also asked about how the couple found Oakley Home Builders. They stated that they found OHB by searching the Internet for custom homebuilders in Chicago. “I was looking first at builder’s websites to see if they had pictures of homes they had built, and then contacted the ones that I felt had the style of home we were looking to build. We chose OHB because we loved the homes they built; it was exactly the type of home we wanted. Their homes are elegant but not too fancy. They are homes with classic, traditional feels, and with modern touches. We found that once we walked into their homes, we immediately fell in love with them and felt at home.”

Besides the style of home, the couple stated they loved Oakley Home Builders dedication to green building techniques. OHB’s use of green technology included the saving of selected existing trees on the home site. This home features many green elements that Oakley Home Builders places in all of their homes. These items included Energy Star rated appliances, HVAC equipment, and bath fans as well as a heavily upgraded blown in fiber insulation package, highly energy efficient appliances, and windows and doors that conserve energy were used in the construction of the home as well.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards were created in 1972 to recognize excellence in housing design, architecture, interior merchandising, remodeling and landscaping. It has since evolved into one of the premier housing programs in the country.
