With help from parent volunteers, Hillcrest School students were hard at work on art projects last month for a very good cause.

Each class worked together to complete an artistic creation, and the finished works represented a variety of styles and media.

Brittany Cerny’s fourth-grade class created a stained-glass birdbath, carefully placing and arranging brightly colored pieces of mosaic tile. Amy Flannery’s first-graders prepared a piece of abstract artwork, with each student contributing by placing colored tissue in decoupage style and painting with an acrylic medium. Leslie Walker’s first-graders recreated the painting “Sky Above the Clouds” by Georgia O’Keeffe.

The class art projects are being donated for inclusion in the silent auction during the Hillcrest PTA’s Game Night fundraiser on March 10.
