18 South High Students Inducted into National Technical Honor Society
Eighteen seniors from South High School in Downers Grove were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on Thursday, February 16, 2012.
The NTHS recognizes outstanding student achievement in career and technical education (CTE) and promotes excellence in workforce education. Fewer than two percent of secondary students are nominated into the organization. To qualify for NTHS membership, students must have three or more semesters of CTE courses, earn a “B” or better in those courses, and maintain an overall grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Students must also demonstrate exemplary personal conduct, exceptional character and good citizenship.
“NTHS is an acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education, and thousands of schools and colleges are affiliated with this society,” explains Teacher and NTHS Sponsor Ruth White.
“We congratulate our hard-working students who have been elected into membership of this prestigious organization,” adds CTE Chair Valerie Moses.
During the induction ceremony, students lit eight candles representing knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership.
