St. Mary of Gostyn Invites the Community to its Open House

To celebrate Catholic Schools Week, St. Mary of Gostyn welcomes the community to its Open House on Sunday, January 29, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Students will display their work, parents will provide school tours, and staff will demonstrate the school’s extensive technology. Community members can enjoy refreshments and try their luck at the cake walk or football toss during the school’s Fun Fair.

“The Open House is a dynamic time at St. Mary’s school,” said Rhonda Sipchen, Catholic Schools Week chairperson. “Students are proudly showing their class projects, alumni return to visit their teachers, and families are enjoying their school community. We warmly invite everyone to visit our school.”

The Open House kicks off Catholic Schools Week from January 29 – February 3. Each day highlights a special activity, including a focus on “education is your future.” To highlight ongoing education after St. Mary’s school, students will participate in a week-long college jeopardy contest and will be able to wear their favorite college sweatshirt.

“St. Mary’s school prepares students for their next steps whether the child is a preschooler looking towards kindergarten or an eighth grader moving on to high school,” said Dolores Mielzynski, principal. “We are proud that 78% of last year’s eighth grade class achieved honor roll distinction at their respective high schools in the first quarter of their freshman year.”

“St. Mary’s combines robust teaching with the latest technology to provide a solid academic foundation rooted in faith,” said Sister Mary Catherine Evans, assistant vice principal.

Teachers from preschool to eighth grade will be available to discuss curriculum, special class activities and the use of technology in their classes. Technology Director Mary Buchler will show how ENO boards complement teaching, and St. Mary eighth graders, who have their own school-issued laptops, will be available to discuss the advantages of 1:1 technology.

St. Mary of Gostyn school offers three- and four-year-old preschool, full- and half-day kindergarten and excellence in its first through eighth grade Catholic education. For more information, contact Dianne Czopek at (630) 968-6155.
