St. Joseph School held their 11th Annual Battle of the Books competition. Over the years, excitement has grown along with the number of competitors, this year attracting over 130 students in this competition created by school librarian, Regina McCutcheon.

The Battles are split into 4th & 5th grade and Middle School levels. Each level is given a list of 10 books to read which provide a variety of subject matter to the students. The reading began before Christmas break. Competitions ran through late January for the 4/5th grade, while the championship competition took place on March 1st for Middle School.

Middle School champs were eighth graders Sean Burk, Evan Culligan, Marija Cyvas, Larry Dunn, Eddie Fitzgerald, Shannon Kennedy, Grace Larson, Monica Lim, William O’Meara, and Daina Polikaitis.

Gr 4/5 champs were fifth graders Clare Delaplane, Maggie Dunn, Jack Eschenbach, Tim Flavin, Danny Freeman, Katie Mangan, Quinlan McGrath, Allison Padovani, Sean Theisen, and Steven Wisniewski.
