Learning the Legend of the Christmas Stocking

St. Joseph School's 4-year-old preschoolers have had a busy December. They recently finished the book “The Legend of the Christmas Stocking” by author, Rick Osborne. Together with their teacher Caroline Hanes, students traveled back to the late 1800’s where a boy named Peter learned the story of St. Nicholas and at the same time learned a heartfelt lesson of kindness and generosity. Together they discovered the depth of God’s love shown through others as they learned the Christian meaning revealed in this wonderful book.

The 4-year-olds then continued learning while working with their hands creating their own stockings to hang by their chimney with care.

While finalizing these projects, the preschoolers were surprised on Monday, December 6th with a visit by St. Nicholas himself, who brought a candy cane for each student and also shared a prayer.
