New School Year Brings Memories to School President
St. Joseph School began its second century on Monday, August 23rd, greeting both the returning and new students at their century old doorways. "If these doors could talk!" said Sr. Dorothy Randall, who carries a lot of the history of St. Joseph School in her blood.
Sr. Dorothy and her brother, Fr. Jude Randall both attended St. Joseph through their grammar school years. Sr. Dorothy also carried the title of principal at St. Joseph for over 15 years and is now president of the school. "It was here that I received my solid foundation in life, and now it is here that I continue to work with the teachers and staff to provide a strong foundation for all our students; not only in education, but also in our Catholic faith and so importantly in service to others."
Sr Dorothy recalled the pitter-patter of feet in the halls she once came through as a student herself. "The sound doesn't change, and neither do the students. They are just as eager to learn and grow."
The first day at St. Joseph consisted of a half-day of class followed by a fun-filled skate party at Lombard Roller Rink. Class time was a time for students to meet their new teachers and discover their new classroom surroundings. The annual Skating Party is a crowd pleaser for students, who work off those first day jitters on roller-skates.
