The following items were taken from Downers Grove police reports on Feb. 9.
Woman’s car keyed following argument
- A car parked at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital was keyed about 10 a.m. on Feb. 1, after the car owner argued with another motorist who wanted her parking spot. Both motorists had been waiting for another vehicle to vacate the same disputed spot, which provoked the argument.
12-year-old boy harasses adult store employees
- Employees at Lover’s Lane, and adult-themed store in the 1600 block of 75th Street, were harassed by a 12-year-old boy who repeatedly called the business over a period of about two weeks, “making sexual comments” and yelling at employees, according to a police report. Police were able to track down the suspect with information provided by the business’ caller ID. The telephone harassment was reported to police on Feb. 2. The boy was not charged.
Two arrested for knocking over mailbox
- Two 16-year-olds were charged with criminal damage after a man working in his garage in the 3700 block of Saratoga Avenue heard the two teens knock his mailbox off of its mount, at about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. The man followed a red minivan the two were driving in his own vehicle and was able to get a license plate number, which he gave to police.
Swastika drawn in dust on dirty car
- A swastika was drawn in the dust on a dirty car between Jan 28 and 29th. The car’s owner told police she noticed the swastika as she was exiting church with her husband, though it is unclear when or where the swastika was drawn.
Criminal damage
- A window was broken at the Main Street Train Depot around 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 2. A witness told police she heard the sound of breaking glass and saw three people inside the depot, including a woman drinking alcohol.
- Police found a large chunk of asphalt in the shattered remnants of a vehicle’s window, just before midnight on Feb. 2. The vehicle, parked in the 700 block of Warren Avenue, also had a large dent in driver’s side door. A was found lying next to the door. Police estimate damage to the car at $350.
