As it was fifth-grade football, no one was sure who could snap the ball with even moderate aptitude. So there would be a mini-tryout. And Scott Daly, playing the game for the first time, put his hand up to hunch over.
“I went out there and gave it a hurl and ended up doing pretty good,” Daly said. “My coach took me aside and said, if you keep at it, you could possibly snap in college. I didn’t really think much of it then.”
