The following items were taken from Des Plaines Police records on Feb. 20.
Residential burglary
- Two homes on the 100 block of Michael Road were burglarized between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Feb. 15. Costume jewelry — valued at $500 — was taken from one home, while $450, credit cards, jewelry and a handheld Nintendo Game Boy — valued at $5,500 — were taken from the other house. The back door to one home was forced open and damaged while a basement window of another was forced open.
Possession of stolen property
- A 51-year-old man, of the 1900 block of Ash Street, was arrested at 12:13 p.m. Feb. 14 on the 1800 block of Pine Street and charged with possession of stolen property, no valid insurance and improper use of registration sticker. The man had a registration sticker that belonged to someone else, who told police the sticker was stolen from her car when it was towed in December.
Trespassing
- A 38-year-old Highland Park man was cited for trespassing at 4:57 p.m. Feb. 15 at Rivers Casino on the 3000 block of South River Road. The man is on the state’s self-exclusionary list.
- A 45-year-old Evanston man was cited for trespassing at 10:55 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Rivers Casino. The man was evicted from the property on Nov. 16 for disorderly conduct. The casino in November gave the man an eviction letter, which was signed with expletives instead of the man’s name.
Unlawful conduct of operations
- A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 5:04 p.m. Feb. 15 on the 500 block of West Debra Drive and charged with no valid driver’s license and unlawful conduct of operations. The man was slowly driving and stopping by homes looking for scrap. After running a name check, police found the man did not have a driver’s license.
Theft
- A taxi driver told police he drove a man from Chicago to the 1900 block of Ash Street, but was never paid for the fare. The man told the driver he planned on going into his home to get the $38 for the ride, but never returned, reports state. The man is described as 30- to 35-years-old, 6-feet tall and wearing a white jacket and yellow jeans. A witness later told police she saw a man who fit that description jumping a nearby fence and running northbound.
